  •  Establish a schedule: They must realize there is a time to be in class, a time for study, time for family, time to socialize, and time to just be alone. The issue is recognition that there must be an appropriate balance between the study and the social life. They should set a daily schedule to study, do homework. The student should choose the best study schedule, a time they feel comfortable.

  •       Choose a place and avoid distractions: Students will need limited noise, a lot of sunlight, a tidy surface, and comfortable furniture. Find a quiet place to study where you won't be bothered. They should stay away from distractions such as: the computer (unless it is being used for studying), the cell phone, the TV.  If you have family members that distract you, politely ask them to leave so you can continue with your assignments.

  •     Take brakes while studying: They should study 30 to 45 minutes then take a short break, eat a snack, have a cup of coffee, a glass of juice, play with the dog, etc., then return to study. This refreshes the mind, and often some issues that may have been confusing them before, become suddenly clear.

  •            Implement the learning styles: The term learning style refers to the way in which an individual concentrates on, processes, internalizes, and retains new and difficult information. Each student has his/her preference when studying.  Some students may work best alone, in a pair, with several peers, as a team, with an adult, or in multiple ways.

  •     Sleep enough: Modern students do not sleep enough and that is why they feel tired and bored at the moment of studying. Lack of sleep prevents you from concentrating and reduces your ability to remember what you have learned. So, it is relevant to sleep 8 hours to keep the brain and the body awake.

  •        Study with a friend or partner: Quiz each other, compare notes, and share ideas.

  •     Take notes: record important information (and/or key words), use clear headers to organize information and use pictures/diagrams to demonstrate. Highlight or underline key points in your material. This may help students to study later and have a review.

  •       Get help: When you don't know what to do when you have to study for something. Don't give up, go and talk to someone about it. It could be a member of your family, a teacher, a partner. The important is to look for guidance.
